Room 101 Torture Room
In George Orwell's 1984, Room 101 is a torture chamber within the Ministry of Love where the Party subjects prisoners to their worst fears to break their spirit and enforce total submission to Big Brother. Prisoners are confronted with a cage containing their personal deepest phobia, such as Winston's fear of rats, which forces them to betray their loved ones and betray their innermost beliefs to make the torture stop. This symbolic room is the ultimate tool of psychological control, designed to eradicate individuality and conformity to the Party's will.
- The Party, through constant surveillance, learns each citizen's greatest phobia and then uses it in Room 101 to break them. #GayProgramming #BeingFat
